Innovation, Formation and Clusters for SMEs in Craiova

On 30.11.2015, the Innovation, Formation and Clusters for SMEs – KIC InnoEnergy – a sustainable energy system for Europe through close integration of research, innovation and education took place in Craiova:

Solutions regarding promoting of innovation, entrepreneurship and education in the sustainable energy field by bringing together academics, businesses and research institutes were discussed during this event with a goal to make a positive impact on sustainable energy in Europe.

  • Solutions regarding coordination and support action funded under the 7th Framework Programme and addresses to the field of research and innovation.
  • Energy solutions for medium size cities.
  • Changes in travel behaviour mind-sets for commuting leading to more energy efficient transport.
  • Shift towards sharing the journey for  half of the working population (>80% of car commuters) who currently drive alone to work.
  • To attract-match-retain more employees to use carpooling for their commute to work trips.

During his presentations, Mr Gabriel Vladut included a brief description of CHUMS Project, goals, achievements and next steps.

CHUMS presented at the Award Gala and Expo “Produced in Oltenia”

Annualy, the County Chambers of Commerce and Industry organizes one of the most important business events of the year: Gala Top Companies and ExpoProduced in Oltenia Region”. Based on financial indicators, companies in the Dolj County compete and are rewarded in the frame of this event. The participant companies range from Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing to Construction, Services, Trade and Tourism as well as Research, Development and High – Tech.




The event was coordinated and led by Mr. Gabriel Vladut, President of the Chambers of Commerce and Industry Dolj. At the end of the opening speech, Mr. Gabriel Vladut made a short presentation of the CHUMS Project, showing achievements and goals that are very important for the city of Craiova.

The Transportation Research Board Annual Meeting – 10–14/01/2016 – Washington, D.C, USA

CIVITAS Forum Conference 2015 – 7-9 October 2015 – Ljubljana, Slovenia

The theme of the Conference will be “Sharing the city” with a focus on sustainable urban mobility as an important driver to build an accessible and livable city for all, as well as to constantly improve the quality of urban life.

The discussions and exchanges of experience on how best sharing the physical and social space of the city will significantly contribute to further define and implement innovative, smart and sustainable mobility solutions in European cities and beyond.

CIVITAS Forum 2014 – 23-26 September 2014 – Casablanca, Marocco

In September 2014 Casablanca will host the CIVITAS Forum, an annual event organised as part of the EU CIVITAS 2020 Initiative to bring together the representatives of the CIVITAS Forum Network’s member cities and of the EuroMed region: policy makers, urban planners, mobility experts and politicians to present and discuss transport measures and policies towards sustainable urban mobility, accessibility and socio-spatial inequalities. Following the experience of Casablanca as well as of many European cities, the leading theme of the CIVITAS Forum 2014 will be the accessibility and social inclusion a key factor in urban mobility and city planning. From a spatial and mobility stand-point, accessibility can be considered a pertinent concept while analysing the problem of socio-spatial inequalities and also while investigating how the coordination of urban mobility, spatial planning and institutional governance can play a relevant role in making cities more accessible for all.

The CHUMS project will be presented in the 2015 POLIS Conference

The 2015 Annual Polis Conference on “Transport innovation for sustainable cities and regions” will take place on 19 and 20 November 2015 in Brussels. Side events and Polis’ Annual General Assembly (AGA) are scheduled for 18 November.

On Thursday, 19 November, in section 1D. Shared Transport Services of the Parallel Sessions the CHUMS project will be presented by the coordinator. Carpooling as part of an integrated transport system ‐ Toulouse leads the way (CHUMS) is the title of the presentation that will form 3 main components:

  1. Background of the CHUMS project which is funding the innovative carpooling measures in our cities.
  2. Focus on Toulouse’s state of the art case study on integrating carpooling into their modal services.
  3. Snapshot of carpooling success factors from other partner cities.
